Vipul Mehta was the original choice but Mehta had to quit the film. Emphasising that he had no creative differences with Ghai that led to his exit, Vipul told ETimes a few minutes ago, “You are right. I was going to be in charge of ’36, Farmhouse’ but not anymore.”
Vipul is a film and TV writer, director, and producer who is best know for his writing works in TV series like ‘Kyunki… Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein’ (2004).
So what happened that Ram walked in? Explained Vipul, “The film was supposed to start sometime in January/February. But it kept getting delayed due to the lockdown. And I can’t blame anybody for that. But you see, I have already committed to a film which I have to start in Uttarakhand from July 7. I had no option but to tell Subhash jhi about it. He understood.”
We asked upfront: Any creative differences? Any fallout? “None. In fact, I am doing some project for Subhash ji- but for a later date,” Vipul revealed.
“Ram is a creative guy. I know him. He will do a good job,” Vipul asserted. As good as he would have done? Vipul laughed, “Everyone pushes the envelope to make a good film.”
’36, Farmhouse House’ is going to be largely shot in Panvel in a bio-bubble. On Thursday, Jackie Shroff made a brief visit on the sets.
