After skipping the cinematic festivities in 2020, Festival de Cannes is back in 2021 to celebrate world’s best cinema in the most stylish way! World’s biggest movie extravaganza has begun at the French Riviera and the red carpet is on fire. While many stylish looks have been showcased at the festival already, one appearance that is making a lot of news is that by popular Bangladesh actress Azmeri Haque Badhon.

Badhon’s film ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ was screened at the Cannes and Azmeri sprung a beautiful surprise at the red carpet. The actress, who was in Cannes to attend the screening of the film in which she has played the titular role, picked up a sari for her Cannes’ debut

It was a proud moment for the Bangladeshi film industry as the film received a standing ovation at the 74th Cannes Film Festival. However what also grabbed everyone’s’ attention and applause was Azmeri’s stunning traditional red carpet look.

The actress wore a traditional beige Dhakai Jamdani sari and she looked gorgeous. The sari was from the Bangladeshi brand Aarong. The Jamdani sari featured handwoven motifs and she teamed it up with a halter-neck blouse which had silver statement pieces embellished on the belts.

Azmeri accessorised her look were silver ear studs and a matching bracelet. The actress opted for a subtle make-up look with kohl-rimmed eyes and a dab of matte mauve lipstick. The diva tied her tresses in a centre-parted sleek bun.

Sharing pictures from the grand event on Instagram, Azmeri wrote, “Thanks to @brac.aarong and the entire team who have worked so hard on my sharee and jewellery. It was so nice to wear my deshi Dhakai Jamdani at the event. When it comes to Jamdani, I never think about anything other than Aarong ! Thanks for arranging such an exclusive one within a very short time. Special thanks to Asif Bhai who simply said ‘Yes’ to Jamdani when I expressed my interest to wear one from Aarong.”

The movie, directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad highlights sexual assault and dangers of women in Bangladesh. It’s first time that a Bangladeshi movie has been selected for the ‘Un Certian Regrad’ section.
