As dengue cases rise, 7 biggest myths busted

Again, while COVID fear continues to prevail along with dengue fear, experts have highlighted that it could actually be possible for an individual to contract two different viral strains, i.e. COVID-19 along with dengue at the same time. This is what is known as a co-infection, and the reason why it’s being advised to go for standard testing, no matter what similar or dissimilar symptoms you get.

Not only do COVID and dengue share some common symptoms (including fever, gastrointestinal trouble, nausea, myalgia), contracting two viral strains at a time like this can complicate matters, cause severe stress on the body, prolong recovery or cause devastating outcomes. Hence, any possibility shouldn’t be ruled out and it’s requisite that we continue following COVID appropriate protocols and other preventive practices.
